Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has once again appeared before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding allegations of fund misappropriation during his tenure.
On Tuesday morning, Bello, accompanied by his legal team, arrived at the EFCC office in a black Hilux vehicle. His appearance aligns with a recent Supreme Court ruling affirming the anti-graft agency’s authority to investigate corruption cases across states.
This development comes shortly after speculation about his planned visit to the EFCC surfaced last week. However, Bello’s media team remained silent, refraining from confirming or denying the rumors.
Legal actions surrounding Bello include ongoing proceedings at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja. On November 14, the EFCC requested an adjournment to November 27, citing a 30-day window within which to serve summons. While his co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, have been granted administrative bail, Bello’s arraignment is scheduled for the next hearing.
The case continues to draw public attention as the EFCC intensifies its efforts to hold former public officials accountable for alleged financial misconduct. The next court session promises to shed more light on the accusations and the defense’s stance.
