The Onikan zone 2 police command headquarters in Lagos has arrested Tayo Shakirudeen, the Managing Director (MD) of Skylink Medical Centre in Elepe-Ikorodu, suspected of operating as a fraudulent medical practitioner and using forged credentials.
Acting on intelligence gathered from the Elepe community regarding the activities of Shakirudeen, a team of detectives, spearheaded by SP Mariam Ogunmolasuyi, swiftly moved to arrest the suspect.
Following a search carried out in his facility, two suspected forged certificates, one from Obafemi Awolowo University in Osun state and the other from the Nigeria Medical and Dental Council, were found in his facility that has now been sealed.
In a statement signed by the command’s public relations officer, SP Ayuba Umma, the suspect confessed to electronically fabricating the certificates, admitting that his actual qualification is only a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE).
Shakirudeen also disclosed that he employed a total of six staff, two of whom are trained nurses, while the remaining four are untrained individuals.
He claimed to have performed three surgeries, including two Cesarean sections and one appendectomy, during his three years of unlawful medical practice. He said he has only SSCE certificate.
