Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), recently shared an eye-opening reflection about the challenges of speaking truth in today’s world. Addressing thousands of worshippers during the ongoing Holy Ghost Congress, themed Onward Christian Soldiers, Pastor Adeboye recounted how a statement he made earlier nearly led to serious trouble.
During the RCCG Abuja Holy Ghost Service weeks prior, Pastor Adeboye had spoken candidly about the state of Nigeria, including the billions spent on repairing government-owned refineries that remain largely dysfunctional. Though he refrained from repeating his exact words during this latest gathering, he acknowledged that his earlier remarks raised questions about the country’s challenges.
“Sometimes, the situation in this nation makes you wonder, are we under a curse?” he remarked, expressing frustration at how nations with fewer resources appear to thrive better than Nigeria. Without naming anyone directly, he referenced powerful interests that, he suggested, are obstructing the success of private refineries.
Despite his concerns, Pastor Adeboye offered a message of hope. Declaring confidently, “In the name above every other name, there will be light in our nations,” he called on believers to seek divine intervention in the face of adversity.
He reminded the congregation of the importance of aligning with God, the ultimate Commander-in-Chief, to overcome life’s storms and challenges. Drawing from scripture, he highlighted the power of God’s spoken word: “The first time He spoke, it was a command—‘Let there be light’—and there was light.”
Pastor Adeboye emphasized the transformative power of God’s presence in addressing the chaos and emptiness in individuals, families, and nations. He compared God’s authority to the commanding force behind natural phenomena like earthquakes and storms.
“Before light came, the earth was formless, empty, and full of confusion. Darkness brings confusion, but when God speaks, everything changes,” he explained.
Encouraging the faithful to strengthen their relationship with God, Pastor Adeboye assured them that sticking closely to the “Commander-in-Chief” would equip them with divine strength. He urged believers to rely on God’s light to dispel personal, communal, and national challenges.
This year’s Holy Ghost Congress continues to inspire attendees with messages of spiritual resilience, offering hope for a brighter future both in Nigeria and beyond.
