Bandits on Tuesday invaded the Unguwan Habuja community under the Kakangi ward in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing two villagers and abducting eight others. A resident in the area said one of the victims of the attack was a vigilante leader in the Kakangi ward. “There is an attack today (Tuesday) in Kakangi, two people killed and eight kidnapped. The two persons killed include the leader of the vigilante of Kakangi ward, and the killing happened at Unguwan Habuja of Kakangi just about 3 kms away from Kakangi town,” he said. Similarly, bandits also killed one person at Gonan Alhaji Muntari along Birnin-Gwari Kakangi Road on Monday and shot another person who was said to be receiving treatment at Jibril Mai Gwari General Hospital in Birnin Gwari town. The member representing Kakangi constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yahaya Musa Dan Salio, confirmed the incident, saying three people were killed in the two communities while eight were abducted.Also, a former chairman of the Birnin Gwari Emirates Progressive Union (BEPU), Ishaq Usman Kasai, confirmed the attack in the area but declined further comment. The police spokesman in Kaduna, Mansur Hassan, couldn’t be reached on the phone as calls to his phone went unanswered. He also did not reply to a text message.
